Lombardi’s Prosciutto E’ Funghi
PHP 345 – Approximately 12″ pizza with tomato sauce, prosciutto, and mushroom
Considering that pretty much everything we had at Lombardi’s was blah, this prosciutto e’ funghi pizza was a godsend. The mozzarella was nice and gooey and would come away in strings with each bite. The thin crust was decent, not bubbly as I would have preferred, but still good. They may have overkneaded the dough just a bit. The tomato sauce tasted clean but lacked depth, with much of the pizza’s flavor coming from the salty, earthy prosciutto. The mushrooms imparted sponginess and mild flavor, though I would have preferred they use rehydrated mushrooms instead of what appeared to be the canned button variety.
Overall, this was a decent pizza. It has its merits, but it could have been a lot better.
Verdict: 3.25 / 5
